The rapid growth of the global data center industry has resulted in the development of data center clusters in various regions and attempts to attract new investments are actively carried out in different parts of Finland and Japan. The Arctic Connect submarine fiber-optic cable project, planning to connect northern Europe, East Asia and North America, may radically change these countries’ position in the international information networks. Meanwhile, issues concerning environmental sustainability, such as efficient cooling, re-use of heat, facility energy efficiency and renewable energy, have attracted plenty of attention among Finnish and Japanese industry and academia. This seminar is based on industry-academia-government cooperation and it brings various stakeholders together to discuss the following topics:
